Retorting Barry Bond's (BB) comments last Friday saying that Boston is "too racist" for him I would like to say the Sox would never trade for a ego-inflated, lazy, hypocritical steroid junkie. Mind you his comments about the city I love were fresh in my mind when I formed such a solid opinion of him this weekend.

Before this weekend I knew Barry Bonds was an ass, that was no secret to anyone, but my opinions were limited to just that. People in the media have been pissed at him for years for blowing off interviews and making himself unreachable to fans.

First off there is no doubt in my mind about his unnatural ability to hit a ball .. you just have to look at one stat sheet to know that. But being a franchise player means more than hitting a ball 423 yards over a padded wall. It means leading a team to victory and putting in quality effort. Anyone that receives a paycheck with that many zeros in it is considered to be a franchise player to me.

While recovering from friday nights malarkey, I proceeded to watch Pedro zing fastballs right by Bonds, a glorious sight indeed. It was 4 - 1, San Francisco when in the 8th with 2 men on base, Trot Nixon hit a double hopper to BB in left field. A franchise player would insure a catch throw the ball into third to only allow one run. He instead haphazardly trots over to the ball and "tries" to bare hand it out of sheer laziness, effectively fumbling the ball and then had the audacity to make the centerfielder clean up his mess. Two runs score .. then a single later .. the score was tied, thanks Big Guy.

That inning ended and then BB has his turn at bat. He hit a chopper to the normally very sure handed Pokey Reese at 2nd base. Once he made contact and realized it wasn't leaving the park (or the infield for that matter) he laid down his bat and proceeded to walk to first base. Pokey had a bit of trouble getting a glove on the ball, and it skidded a few feet away .. enough of an error where anybody putting in any effort in "Running out the play" would have easily made it.

When the game is tied .. and your ass is on the line for the 2 runs you let up .. you think you would put more effort in?

Well Embree let up a single then a homerun so the Sox lost anyways, that’s why these notes weren’t splashed all over the front page of ESPN.com. I would love to hear anonymous comments from Bonds teammates about his Defensive play and level of effort. But I guess this isn’t anything new to baseball.

Hey Barry Bonds from this racist to you, you're a tool.

I think this title is more fitting.
