As you probably don’t care (and shouldn’t) I have made a few modifications to the commenting system on this site.

I’ve enacted a policy whereas you have to “preview” your comment before you submit it. I didn’t do this to reduce the number of typos in comments .. but rather to cut down on comment spam.

Spammers have not only attacked me by email sending hundreds of emails weekly because of this site .. but they also leave comments telling you guys to check out their new “P3N1S P1LL5” and about renting underage Russian woman and such. Unfortunately over the past few months its become utterly unbearable ..

A few months ago I took my first stab at limiting the comment spam issue. I installed MT-Blacklist and it has done wonders in cutting down comment spam .. but they still have been getting through .. as many as 50 spams a night.

MT-Blacklist makes it easy to remove all the spam .. but it takes a few minutes that I care not to spend daily.

Last night, on a couple of sites suggestions, to comment I now require a "preview" and removed the "post" input button from the main story page. I also then renamed my comments CGI script from mt_comments.cgi to something else, then updated my MT.cfg file to reflect that change.

After last night’s additions, I haven’t seen one spam come through! Lets hope this works.
