Who pissed in my Cheerios?
Posted on December 23, 2004 in SportsAfter getting my chops busted about not commenting on the awful anal penetration the World Champion Patriots received from the second worse team in the NFL Monday night on national TV, I have decided to toss my .02 cents in.
I think it almost may be a good thing that they got beaten, serious. I’m not saying that losing home field advantage in the playoff’s is ever a good thing, but with Pittsburgh, it wasn’t going to be much of an advantage anyways because both teams are used to crappy (cold) weather.
What it did do is show the Patriots players that they are beatable .. even when you are a VERY HEAVY favorite to win, you still have to show up and play the best you can to win. Which many Patriots did not do on Monday night, despite Belichick’s consistent badgering about the Dolphins strengths.
I think Brady got to used to the idea that he cant make mistakes and thought that if he just “threw it up there” we would come down with it like we have 10,000 times before. If Graham would have made that catch, Brady would have been on ever highlight wheel for the next 3 weeks but instead he looked like a heel.
Truth be told, the offensive line didn’t help Brady out too much either, he had fin’s in his face all game. The tired Patriots defense couldn’t stop the assault they were taking. Special teams looked weak giving up that huge runback to Welker, but to Welker’s credit he has had one of the best return averages in the NFL this year.
I’m not riding the guys in any way, in fact I think this is just what the doctor ordered .. a much needed gut check going into the playoff’s. Remember the tear they went on after their last loss to Pittsburgh? After that loss .. they looked like a team who was rejuvenated and determined to prove their worth and crown of Defending Super Bowl Champions.
Everyone gets beaten, the trick is to pick yourself up, dust off your knickers and start swinging again.
The Jets this weekend wont be an easy mark .. they’re hunting for an all important wild card spot. Curtis Martin will bring his “A game” and our defensive line will need to step up or look like a 2 dollar whore as we lie on our backs whilst Martin runs all over us.
This will be a good test to see if this banged up Patriots team has the gusto to continue the bid for another Super Bowl ring and one step closer to being a “dynasty”.
On another note, please have a safe and Merry Christmas. Don’t drink and drive.

I blame the loss on me - the entire previous weekend I was ragging on my friend who is a rabid Dolphin's fan. :( Sorry guys.
Merry Christmas to you as well - you booze, you cruise, you looze!
Thanks for the soggy Cheerios Craig.
Boy am I glad you brought this up. I've been meaning to get over here and sneak in a Colts jab (or two, or three, or eight). What was it, four interceptions? Ouch.
And Happy Holidays Mr Web!
Hmmm ... 2 Superbowl Rings and 2 Superbowl MVPS or most td passes in a season. Until the Colts win something I will take Brady's 4 interceptions. Actually until the Colts can beat the Patriots I don't think many comments can be made from an Indy fan.
As for a gut check, come on. The whole theory of having to lose to get it out of the way is crazy. People were talking like that last year. The secondary of the Patriots is VERY weak. It has been for weeks. The minute Law and Poole were gone every team in the NFL should have been all over us. Finally it is being exploited. How long can Earth Wind and Fire stop a big play?
Tomorrow should be a tough game for us.
