Like a moth to a flame I am drawn to every newspaper article, magazine columnist, statition and anybody else with a pen and a paper that is writing something about this years Pats/Eagles Superbowl -- and they all seem to be predicting the same thing -- a blowout.

I’ve done all the number crunching myself, played out all possibilities, looked at both teams and I see how it COULD get out of control, but I refuse to think it. I have, over the past four seasons, adopted the Belichickien philosophy that if you underestimate your opponent, you will lose.

Its tough to think that the Pats could somehow loose after watching every minute of this absolutely dominating season .. but just look at the Pats/Miami game on Monday night 3 weeks prior to seasons end and you’ll see what I mean.

Everybody, some of the Patriots included, figured it was going to be a walk in the park over the floundering Dolphins, but it was anything but that. The Pats made a few miscues, the ball bounced (tipped) in favor of the Dolphins for a few turnovers and all of the sudden it was the 4th quarter 5:00 minutes left and we, the World Champions, were on our heels and down big.

There is no team in the NFL that is invincible by any team, that is what makes sports so exciting to watch. The feisty under dog loads up his slingshot and hits that egotistical insurmountable Cyclopes in the eye, blinding him –- that’s why we spend every weekend on the couch glued to the screen. It’s a soap opera for men.

Whenever I feel the slightest bit apprehensive about this years this years Superbowl against the Eagles .. I flip on the tivo’ed Pat/Colts game or especially the Pats/Steelers game when Brady aired out those 60 yard laser beams and then instantly -- like popping three Prozac’s -- I feel better.

Out of the past two Patriot Championship teams (‘01, ‘03), I believe this to be the most finely tuned team. We have one of the best defenses (which is somehow still supposedly vulnerable) which I feel is only topped by our lethal passing game and our new brutal running game.

The saddest thing about seeing your team in the Superbowl is you know that this is the last time you will see them play for 6 months.

Think about it, no more; Dillon stiff arms, heat seeking Brady missiles, Bruschi muggings, Harrison skull-thumpings, Brown Inter-receptions, Automatic 3’s from Vineteri, 4 In-a-row Defensive stonewalls at the 3 yard line, Sundays spent on the couch with the best friends a guy could ask for, Patriot “First Downs!!”, 7-point sawmills with Picard and who could forget the lucky Patriot Touchdown Jager Shots.

It feels like having a good friend move out of town .. you know you’ll see him again .. it just sucks.

The agonizing wait to the Superbowl is here. Only 233 hours left and counting.

Assuming the Patriots win, imagine this year’s version of the DVD “3 Games to Glory.” Having the Pats/Indy game, Pats/Steelers game and 2005 Superbowl Pats/Eagles all in high definition on one DVD will be a necessity for any Patriots fan for decades to come!

Apprehensive Anticipation, sounds like something that’s discussed in AA meetings.
