Esel Punch’ed
Posted on May 24, 2005 in LifeI spent the weekend in Cooperstown, NY watching the Boston Red Sox play in the Hall of Fame game vs. the Detroit Tigers.
Cooperstown is in upstate NY and if you have never been up there let me fill you in what you have missed.
Grass, Cows, Trees, Farms and Mullets – that’s it.
The town of Cooperstown had a whopping total of 2 bars, one of them was a decent Irish bar that seem lost in this mullet-ridden-town.
We had a great time drinking ourselves stupid and then whilst being hampered by a massive hangover we stumbled through the hall of fame looking at some baseball memorabilia.
Because it was an exhibition game the Red Sox starters played about an inning of baseball -- then they brought in 3rd stringers, single A players, hitting coaches, bat boys and even the team janitors to finish up the game.
It was disappointing that Bellhorn went 1-1 and I didn’t get to see him whiff at a ball in the dirt.
They did however have a homerun derby where Ortiz went 8 for 10 including 3 or 4 -- 450+ foot shots which pelted the houses beyond the outfield stands.
Surprisingly no matter how obnoxious and loud we were, we couldn’t get kicked out of any of the bars or the fleabag ho-tel.
It’s now also an undeniable fact that allergy season is in full swing.
