Is the Big Blue Machine back?
Posted on December 20, 2005 in SportsWe are still amiss a injury decimated season, but the Big Blue machine looks to have recently oiled up the gears for a substantial run at a 3 peat. The Patriots, after healing at a few key positions, seem to be poised to play the grinch this Christmas as they begin to ruin the plans of several AFC opponents.
Its nice to see which we thought was hindering the patriots [injuries] was actually at fault and that we weren’t feeling shockwaves from the losses of Charlie Weiss and Romeo Crennel.
Since Bruschi’s return the patriots are 6-2, Since Seymour’s return they are 6–1 and since Dillon’s return they are 3–0.
The defense is much improved since Belichick does not have to use his corner backs to stop the run anymore. They continue to improve in the secondary and not let up as many plays as previous with the help of Rookie sensation Ellis Hobbs.
After three straight games of overpowering defense combined with the most potent offence ever fielded in 10 years by the patriots, I am proud to officially announce the Patriots as a Super Bowl contender and no longer a pretender.
Still without Rodney Harrison, Randall Gay, Matt Light and other key players can they continue to play championship caliber football?
The Colts look awesome this year, but they proved they are still human with their meager performance against the Chargers. If they cant get up and play their best game to go undefeated as they all claim they were ready to do, what should we expect from them in the playoff’s? I think we may see a repeat performance of last year in the playoff’s on yet another big stage – yet again proving the Colts to crack under pressure. They have also recently felt a rash of injuries which they have seem to be the only NFL team which avoided injuries this year.
Peyton and company be warned, you are officially marked.
The RCA Dome is surely a long ways away and a huge advantage for Indy, but we have a huge advantage too. We have Brady. A star whom seems to somehow burn brighter as the heat intensifies.
Even if they Pats do go one and out in the playoff’s they proved that beyond all that the talent, effort and class is there in winning and losing. That is the sign of a true champion.
All I can say is, are you ready for some football?

Yes.
(Bring it. BTW, is it possible to roll out our discussions from last year? I figure the conversation will go about the same this year -- maybe we could save ourselves some time and effort.)
Nicole, you don’t sound like the normally optimistic and little cocky Indy fan we are used to hearing? Your team just won 14 straight games? You whopped the patriots earlier in the year (i was there) on Monday Night Football. What gives?
Bit by the dog too many times?
As I said, BRING IT. Sunday was just a minor setback for the Colts. Their OL will get it back together, and they will be in the Super Bowl.
But, I also have a lot of respect for the Patriots. They're dangerous, especially when it's playoffs time. Plus, I can't really _hate_ a team that has Tom Brady on it. :)
Estrogen and Football are like oil and water.
Now that my fantasy football run is about over, will someone please knock Peyton Manning's head off already?
What is this? You forewent your beloved Brady for Manning? Do I sense a little QB envy?
I mean, I would be a little envious too, if I were you.
I hate the Manning family
-The look on Peyton's face when his receiver doesn't catch one of his crappy passes. He just llooks like a prick in general.
-Peyton Manning getting more media respect than Carson Palmer who is having a better season. I'm not saying Manning is a not a great quarterback, but thats all that is talked about, ever. There are plenty of other teams in the NFL.
-Eli the crybaby who got drafted by San Diego and cried like a little girl until his daddy stepped in and they traded him to NY
I'm done
Go Pats
I know this has nothing to do with the post, but Steinbrenner ruined baseball.
His fat wallet buys all these players, brings up the market, and doesn't let other teams compete in small markets. The Red Sox have to spend money to keep up, but there is a line...
Johnny Sellout, have fun being a small fish in a big pond and losing your marketability, I hope your new extra large mansion instead of your normal sized mansion brings happiness to your gold-digging wife.
Eric - Correction they won 13 straight games and lost this week to be 13 - 1.
I agree with Dave on Manning, once he gets flustered his facial expressions are about as bad as Derek Lowes. I'm surprised he didn't blame a receiver for not jumping 20 feet in the air and having a teammate rope him back inbounds to catch that intentional grounding pass.
More than wanting a Super Bowl win I want to beat Indy in the Dome so once and for all they can put to rest the nonsene of Indy having to play in cold weather in New England. This is football, it should be played in the snow and cold. And if I recall the Pats have an equal advantage playing indoors as well.
As for Damon he is the biggest sellout. He will get spit on everynight at Fenway when he plays centerfield. Maybe he can sign a deal with Super Cuts of New York to cut his hair publically before spring training. If that doosh bag shows up to the press conference this week all cleaned cut he is a total and complete sellout. Friggen knob gobbler.
Sorry B - I have them too much credit. 13 wins.
Manning is a cry baby loser, you guys are right with the facial expressions its ridiculous.
“I’ll have the Manning Burger, but please hold the whining – it has a loser aftertaste.”
Nicole. Manning tosses more TD's and loses more games than any quarterback in history. If winning games was worth fantasy points I would choose Brandy hands down.
Ah, welcome back, guys (Really. I missed our roundabouts.). Now go put on your Damon jerseys and think about what might have been.
And, I do hope the Patriots and Colts meet in the playoffs, and at which field I don't care.
May 1 - Damon in Boston
Maybe we can get Torri Hunter, that is acceptable.
It is already set Nicole, if the game happens it will be in Indy, they have home field throughout.
