Back, a little more Impressed
Posted on June 21, 2006 in PhotosAbout this time last week we took the 6 hour journey from Vegas to the Grand Canyon.
There are a few times in your life that you are impressed to a point where it gets burned into your memory forever, I remember a few of these.
I remember vividly the first time; my dad took me to the old Boston Garden, I went walking around Times Square in NY, I sat down in Fenway Park, visited Washington DC, I visited Niagara Falls and now I get to add ‘I remember the first time I sat staring into Grand Canyon’ to that list.
The first five minutes of glaring into this awesomely huge gaping crack of eroded rock are quite humbling just because of its sheer size and age. After taking a 4 mile long shuttle ride west on the south ridge, you can just barely begin to understand how long and large the Grand Canyon actually is.
Seeing the Grand Canyon raises the bar to which all other things will be judged now, and unfortunately pictures DO NOT do it justice.
I need to thank the entire Coletta family for opening up their arms and bringing a Webster (me) along with them.
I had a great time at the Canyon and walking around Vegas – this was the first time I actually won gambling – it was also the first time I actually tried to gamble.

Nice pics, Web! I've always thought you could judge a location's beauty by asking "Can I really take a bad picture of [xyz]?" The Caribbean comes to mind - it's just stunningly beautiful.
(BTW, you know you have a girlfriend when the only thing you blog about upon your return from a Grand Canyon/Vegas trip is the Grand Canyon part)
