Hiatus over. Let the Updates begin.
Posted on March 08, 2008 in Articles , Life , TechnologySo its been a while (2,760 hours or 122 days), I know. How’s your mom? Did you ever get that rash cleared up? Good.
A lot of things have been going on for me both personally and professionally (Its funny how my hiatus coincides with the release of Call of Duty 4 for xbox360 -- totally unrelated) but currently I am sitting in a hotel room in Austin Texas during Day Two of the South by Southwest Interactive Conference.
I think my geek juices ran dry – but meeting all these great people, seeing some old friends and being part of some great panels I think has reignited my inner geekdom. Lucky you.
So on with the updates and lets start off with some huge personal news, if you have not heard through the grapevine (which, if you didn’t know, is made out of Facebook, Myspace and text messages -- interesting isin't it?) I got engaged this Christmas to my beautiful and loving long time girlfriend Lisa.
Through all the ups and downs in my life for the past five years she has been right by my side. The decision to spend the rest of my life with her was an easy one. She makes me stronger, she makes me happy, she makes me smarter – in essence she completes me and I love her for that. I can only hope I can return the favor. The story of the engagement may find its way here, with video proof. I am undecided about that ..
Re: Work and Geekery
I’ve been working hard at Sapient trying to make some things happen – there’s been some good days and some bad ones.
The TVGuide project based out of Santa Monica that I worked on all summer did end up going live. I think I really learned a lot on this project as we pushed the limits of XHTML/CSS/Javascript. This was one of the most complicated applications I ever put together and I really wish I had more time with it than I did.
Along with that I have been working on the Liberty Mutual account and we launched a few pieces including a Money Smart Blog but the biggest piece is on the horizon and you should be hearing about that soon.
During the fall I worked on the Under Armour account and went down to Baltimore for a few weeks and cranked out a reskin to the Under Armour Shop
So as you can see – I have been quite busy. Part of my work week going forward is going to be spending time learning and contributing from the great community of people out there. Its been neglected for far too long.
For those of you out at SWSX, feel free to drop by the Sapient booth on Sunday. I should be there getting my Guitar Hero on.

Hey, thanks for trying. I know it's been a long time and you apparently have become VERY rusty at your blogging-skillz. None of those links actually work.
Sincerely,
Disappointed-Joe
Hmm, that was odd. thanks for pointing that out Joe. Something about the "=" signs being encoded in some whack-ass Word format.
I was at SXSW last year and was similarly inspired. Good stuff.
I saw on The Filament Group's blog (http://www.filamentgroup.com/lab/markup_and_style_recap/) that you were at the last Markup and Style Society gathering. Seems like you enjoyed it.
Would you recommend it?
